Keeping Our Promise:

a campaign critical for the future of New Britain

For over 100 years, the YWCA has stood prominently in our community as an organization that provides the tools and resources for women to break the cycle of poverty and create better, stronger lives for themselves and their families.

Whether it is providing affordable childcare and so a single mother can rest assured her child is well taken care of while she is at work, providing counseling to a victim of sexual abuse, providing job training and support so a family can move from dependency to self-sufficiency, or offering middle school girls a safe place to talk about important topics like pregnancy prevention- our programs have a positive, life-changing impact on the people they serve.  We know it is vital that the YWCA is here to continue serving future generations and creating a better community for us all.

Fortunately, the YWCA is acting now to ensure a bright future for women and their families with the Keeping Our Promise Campaign – a campaign critical for the future of New Britain.  The goals of the campaign are:

  • An expansion and renovation of the Pamela Hill Childcare Building to accommodate 40% more children from infants through elementary school
  • Creating a destination place for expanded programming to empower all women – a commitment to continue our great programs such as STRIVE, Family Literacy, CNA Training, and Sexual Assault Crisis Services
  • Turning the building around from Glen Street to Franklin Square creating a safe, social, and economic presence
  • Enhancing the promise we make to our future by increasing the endowment

While we are very proud of all that we have accomplished and the many lives that we have touched, there is still more work to be done.  That is why your support is so important.  The success of this campaign will depend on the commitment of the friends of the YWCA who see the extraordinary value of this project, and who will support our efforts to meet the needs of our participants now and for years to come.

Through your partnership the YWCA will continue eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.  We believe our mission is within our reach, and we are dedicated every single day to achieving it.  We also know that our mission is only possible with the support of people like you- people with the hope and passion to make a difference.

Please help us to KEEP OUR PROMISE!  If you have not already made your commitment to this important campaign, please send in your gift today or make your donation on our website.  Multi-year pledges can also be made.

Also, with a gift of $150 or more you can personalize a brick in our soon-to-be renovated facility.  Bricks can list your name or business, recognize someone special, or pay tribute to a loved one and will be displayed in a prominent, public location in our new grand entrance.
